Dodgeball Tournament Results

The tournament was a big success! We raised over $250 dollars for the Penn State Dance Marathon! The THON team performed well playing in Group B. Gabby's Explorers finished with a 1-1 record in group play and had to play a tiebreaker game against a team that defeated them earlier in the event. With the stellar play of Blane throughout the tournament for the THON team, we successfully won and made it to the final four where the top two teams from each of the two groups faced off for the title of tournament champion.

In a good effort from the THON team, Gabby's Explorers, their semifinals match finished in a lost with Blane as the last player getting eliminated from the event.

Overall the THON team finished tied for 3rd place in the tournament of 9 teams after finishing in first place last year. The team that won the event was led by a player from last years winning THON team, U DA defeated the Shooting Blanks 2 to 1 in the tournament finals. Coming back from a match one lost to win the last two matches. Congrats goes to team U DA for winning the tournament!

Championship Bracket Standings
1st Place: U DA
2nd Place: Shooting Blanks
3rd Place: Gabby's Explorers and Legends

Good job to Danny, Kenny, Marc, Anthony, and Blane for their third place finish in the tournament!

Abington THON News Report

Sounds official huh? Anywho, the 3rd canning weekend total is in and we raised over $2,100 this weekend from our two locations. Great job to everyone. Only 2k away from our 10,000 dollar goal!

Don't forget that tomorrow is the Abington THON Dodgeball Tournament! It will be held from 3:00-5:00pm in the Athletic Building. All of the registration money and donations will go straight to the Penn State Dance Marathon.

Also one of our THON dancers, Anthony Pacitti, was recently interviewed for "The Daily Collegian" up at University Park. He was interviewed for his song submissions to the creation of this year's THON iTunes Mix. Anthony was quoted with the following:

"Anthony Pacitti (sophomore-information sciences and technology) requested two songs, both by Rascal Flatts, when the e-mail message was sent out through the Thon listserv to captains about two weeks ago. Pacitti, a family relations director for Penn State Abington, said the songs motivate him to do whatever he can for Abington's Thon child to make her smile. "[The songs] make you think a little more about why you're there," he said."

Happy Holidays!

Hope everyone is enjoying your holiday break, just wanted to give everyone a quick update on Abington THON before the new semester starts.

Everything is going well. Two of our THON members officially met our family. From what we know our child is so cute and the family themselves are awesome! Can't wait to meet them at THON!

All THON members, remember this Friday we will be having a THON movie night at Amy's house. We will be viewing "The Four Diamonds" movie which was made by the Disney Channel in 1995, this movie is all about what the Four Diamonds Fund is about and why THON is apart of it all.

Keep selling those raffle tickets and hope to see you all this Friday!
